How to rewire my brain with Gods word now
Is it possible to rewire our own brains?

How in the world do we even do this?
Oh Sister, buckle up. this is going to be filled with truth, goodness and beauty. Father has such good in store for us!
The popular belief for so many years, decades even, “the brain is fixed, stops growing and is complete around age 25, not changing”.
I am here to tell you the brain is neuroplastic. It is not fixed. It can change. The brain does compensate, incredible. The brain does rewire and miraculously the brain can learn a new way!
Sister the brain is a living organ!
I have seen the truth of this in my very own brain first and over a decade later I would get to experience these truths up close and personal in the lives of my children, and specifically one little one born with special needs.
Of course as an inquiring mind I am always asking The Lord, where is this found in your word Father?

Romans 12:2 tells us,
“12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Strongs (Bible Hub) reveals the word “Renewing” is the Greek word Anakainosis.
“342 anakaínōsis (from 303 /aná, “up, completing a process,” which intensifies kainō, “make fresh, new”; see 2537 /kainós) – properly, a new development; a renewal, achieved by God’s power.”
A completed development, to make fresh, new!
I first learned about the renewal of the mind through scripture.
I didn’t grow up in the church. As a new believer at the 18 I began to see the value of reading the Word of God. Though I wouldn’t understand the vastness of His power as I do now at the age of 37.
A mind in need of renewal:
I want you to know that I am not sharing with you as someone who just reads the scriptures out of obedience to The Holy One, but I am someone who is asking Father, how do I apply the truths that I find in your word, in my life.
I want my life to be transformed by the power of your Son. I can honestly tell you, it has been a hearts cry.
I do not focus my eyes on me and the things I want to change about me, or did want to change. I fix my eyes on Jesus.
What this looks like for me practically:

Let’s say I am being unkind, quick to frustrate. I simply repent. I ask Him to show me why I am so frustrated, overwhelmed.
When He does, I thank Him, and then I ask Him to please take the frustration away.
I remind myself this is not one of the fruits of the spirit and ask Father to help me to set my eyes on Him.
Not the piles of laundry, not the dishes I still have to do, as the toddler is dumping the kitty litter all over the mud room floor, and the dog food she has mixed into the water bowl is yet to be picked up.
Not the children that are having extremely difficult emotions, not the clock that say’s its 10am and my husband will be out of town this week, not any of this, but Him.
The One who loves me most.
I ask Father to forgive me for aligning my heart with frustration in that moment. I ask Him to help me to operate from His heart.
Sister, this is a daily process.
The truth and beauty of the gospel of Jesus Christ is that He has come to set us free. Free from bondage to sin.
Free from guilt, shame and condemnation. Free from retreating into ourselves because we don’t believe He will love us after the 1,000 time we have messed up.
Please listen, Romans 8:39 “…nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
This is renewing the mind.

Taking both hands and grabbing a hold of these truths! They will transform our lives.
Not the constant repeating of how far we fall short.
Instead the constant declaring, “Gods love covers even this. His power is sufficient, His power will be made perfect in me through my weakness…
A special prayer I am praying over us tonight, and one I often pray over myself.
Father I give you praise for loving me so much, thank you that your love never runs out! Help me to keep choosing you. Help me when I fall short. Pick me up and draw me to yourself again Father, for the more time I sit with you, the more I will look like you and overflow what you are pouring into me, that I might walk in freedom not only for me Father but for all the ones I will encounter who need a touch of your love too. In Jesus Name, Amen.
I find myself thinking Paul’s Words, “should we just keep on in sin then that grace may abound?” Far be it from us!
Sister, the more we walk with Our King the more our desires will change and the more we will ask Him to help us and the more we will surrender our will over to Him.
The more our mind, will and emotions will submit to Him, and in turn renew our minds.
It is a daily surrender sister.
Apply The Word to your mind:

This is taking Gods Word, applying it to our lives and understanding that we are living in human bodies who also have spirits and souls.
When our hearts and minds are aligned with Gods truth, His Word, no matter what is going on, we can still have peace.
We learn to silence our own voices that tear us down and we learn through His Word to speak in a manner that is worthy of Christ.
Here is what I mean when I say this, I do not say, “You’re worthless, you’ll always make these same mistakes, you’ll never get it together, you’re such an idiot, you’re so dumb, well that was stupid it’s because you are stupid….”
The Lord Jesus Christ did not give His life at the cross, so that I could tear apart the person whom He died for!
Sister, you and me, and every single person we encounter on the street has been made in the image of God. Whether they acknowledge this truth or not.
They are worthy of love. How do I know this?
John 3:16, “For God so loved The World that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him would not perish but have everlasting life.”
For God so loved, loved who? The World. Sister, He is speaking about the people. He so loved the people of this world, His people that He gave His Son Jesus.
Not because He hated them, no sister, because of LOVE.
This love ought to change and transform us. This knowledge is too wonderful.
Sister, Gods Word tells us, in Psalms 139:17-18
17How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
18If I would count them, they are more than the sand.
I awake, and I am still with you.
The thoughts Father God has about you are beautiful and good. They are so numerous we cannot count them.
Lean in,
If the thoughts Father has towards you are this vast, this amazing, why on earth would you agree with words that tear you down.
Sister, often times these words we speak we feel validated in because our lives are often in such a mess.
We look around and see the “evidence” of these words so we come into agreement with them.
Sister, I want to invite you to reject and renounce these thoughts that rise up against the very knowledge of God.
It is time to break up with these lies! Renounce them sister and see the beauty that will pour forth as we apply His Word to our lives.

In conclusion:
I would love for you to park yourself in John 17 with me this week. Lets print it out, lets devour The Words of Our Lord Jesus Christ and lets see how the truths of His Word will transform us, from the inside out.
The way to transformation is not by looking inwardly sister, but by gazing up at the One who already knows us the most, and also loves us the most!
Keep presenting yourself as a living sacrifice before Our King.
This week, I want to bless you with these songs that so bless me. Let His joy become your own this week.
